Real Women Do It In Sections

Loosely braided ones for detangling, conditioning, and washing their kinky-kurly hair that is.

If you are sleeping on this, WAKE UP!

Before I read Chicoro's book, "Grow It!", I was sleeping on it too. I read her book the beginning of this year and I learned so much valuable info that I am now putting to use and my hair is showing off n showin out, ladies. I luv when my hair does that. I did a review on her book earlier this year. This book is a must read and an invaluable addition to your kinky-kurly hair care library.

When I first read this book, I had a serious TWA and couldn't emply the method right away. My hair is finally long enough to do this technique. I started doing it back in July and haven't turned back since.

Right now I can get my hair in 8 loose braids. Once my hair gets longer, I'll go down to 6.

This technique has truly enhanced my hair care and styling. I experience a lot less tangling and I lose a lot less hair. I condition successfully in the braids as well and my hair even LAYS down better.

My biggest disbelief was that I could cleanse my hair thoroughly in the loose braids but it CAN be done. It took some getting used to but now it's easy breezy. (I still use my castile soap mix but I think I'll be switching to a shampoo bar in the near future.) Now I can't see myself washing my hair any other way especially when it starts getting long, this will be even more of a God send than it is now b/c I'll be able to manage it all and not feel overwhelmed.

I'm a sectioner for life baby.

Get this book if you don't have it already!

You are right about braiding in sections - it may seem time consuming but it is well worth it. I have also noticed less breakage i.e. hair in my sink/comb/shirt when I do this.

I got 'lazy' and stop doing this for a while and really noticed the difference. Now, I take down my style detangle and braid the night before and wash/condition the next. I also pre-poo with the braids in as well :o)

I dont do braids section I do ponytail sections. I section my hair into four parts, then take one section down ,apply product, finger detangle , scrub scalp , wash hair and put back into the ponytail. then go on to the next. My hair is so thick that the braids tend to clump so I like the ponytail route

Laquita: I don't know what my life would be like right now without this method

I totally agree with this. Once i've tried this yrs ago i was impressed.. right now i'm trying something else.. more like keeping my hair in protective style for a whole month without touching it... i'm washing moisturizing sealing n stuff too.

i was just thinking about this---wondering if my hair is long enough to try this process yet. I dn't get much tangles with my regular routine but I am preparing for the day when I wake up and can't just jump in the shower and wash coming soon...
I do need to invest in this book..

Very interesting approach. Never thought of doing that, and I bet styling after it is washed is even that much easier. I am going to give this a try! Thanks for the info...

i've been braiding my hair (most nights) for two months and everything she said works for me too. i've gained/retained 1.5 inches and now can rock a nice twisty puff in the back (braid-out).

never thought of washing it this way though, i'm def about to try it...

does this book have info on fairy knots?
