Product Review: Kinky Curly Curling Custard

I finally got around to trying out the Kinky Curly Curling Custard. You saw in my post last week that I did a wash n go, a style I don't rock on a normal basis at all, and used the custard for it. Well you all know I like to keep my reviews to the point so let's get into it.

I don't mind it. I followed the directions, which was to apply it to clean, sopping wet hair (using the Knot Today Detangler/Leave In underneath it) and let air dry. If you don't like frizz, once you've finished applying it, don't touch it till it's completely dry.

My coils dried soft and with fabulous definition. I like that it didn't make my hair feel crunchy or come close to drying it out like a lot of other curl enhancing products have the tendency to do. I kept the style for a week and my hair stayed soft and moisturized. (Please note that I did lightly moisturize my hair 2 times during the week.)

It has a pleasant and ligh scent, clear color and a gooey gel consistency. Like any other gel, be careful not to use too much of it or you can expect white flakes. I experienced this minimally in the front because I got a lil too happy with it.

The one thing I will say, and I said it before in my recent wash n go post, is this custard is not a magic product; it can only enhance what hair texture you possess. If you don't have corkscrew curls naturally, then don't expect this product to give it to you. If you have wavy, wiry hair it will enhance that; it won't give you curls. The length of your hair and how much shrinkage it has will also factor into how the the product will make your hair "hang". If your hair has a lot of shrinkage, like mine, the custard will only weigh it down so much. All these factors play into how it will work for you.

I think a lot of people set too high of expectations on the custard and become let down when it doesn't live up to them. It's like we have in our mind a universal and life altering outcome it's supposed to have for us.

Since I really don't plan to do any wash n go's anytime soon, I plan to use the rest of it up when I do twist n curl sets. I don't plan to re-stock this anytime soon but would I buy it again if I felt in the mood to do a wash n go? The answer is yes. I had a good experience with it and I like the product and company behind it are black owned. I enjoy supporting people who have products and services with me in mind.

Great review. I have tried this product and I like the fact that it contains natural ingredients and is black owned. I had heard many people complain about having to go through the motions with product several times before gettin it right. I fortunately found a video on YouTube with a young lady whose hair looked just like mine and almost he same length. I followed her regimen to a tee and it came out great I think. I love the way my hair transformed as soon as I rubbed it on each section!

Great review. I've been using KKKC for almost a year now. It took some time for me to figure it out. Once I did, I fell in love with it. The key for me is to go heavy on the KT and lighter on the KKKC. My hair has een much more moisturized and I've been able to retain length since using it.
