Stylin in Philly

Rakia, the beautiful natural host, gives you the low down on some ill spots to shop in Philly.

I'll have to remember these spots next time I'm in Philly. Especially for one of those drawstring scarves. Can we say, I need one in my life?

I'll Take 2 Please

One for my kit and one for me to play. It's like the 28 color neutral e/s palette, right? It is, in a way, but it has more colors. Great for those who want to create natural/day time looks with a splash of warmth that the 28 color neutral e/s palette doesn't give you.

You know where I like to get mine, good ol Ebay. But if you want to go "more official", you can get them at www.CoastalScents.com.

About the Author

Chris-Tia Donaldson is a Harvard graduate with a true passion for hair. By day, Chris-Tia is a successful lawyer for a software company. By night, she is a freelance writer and entrepreneur looking to launch her own product line for naturally kinky tresses. For this revolutionary book, Chris-Tia has interviewed hundreds of women -- from all walks of life -- about everything from the epidemic of hair loss in the black community to the historical effects of slavery on black women and their hair care practices. Chris-Tia currently lives in Chicago -- where she is active in a wide variety of civic, educational, and charitable organizations.

MY Thoughts on the Book:

I luved it! We, in the highly textured hair community, soooo need more books like this! I enjoyed this book b/c Chris-Tia was so informative and broke it all down and included all this in it:

* Chris-Tia's hairstory
* Myths and misconceptions
* History of our hair
* Anatomy of hair; natural hair
* Hair types and textures
* Relaxer info
* Transitioning info
* Hair care
* Locs info (starting them, maintenance, etc.)
* Coloring natural hair
* Different hairstyles/photo gallery
* Product suggestions and making your own products

The book ALSO includes a FAQs section, glossary and salon directory! What more could you ask of this book? Sista girl left no stone unturned.

This book is for everyone the natural vets, newbies, transitioners, mothers taking care of their children's hair, etc. I don't know what else to say. So what are you waiting for, get your copy! It's a dire MUST in your natural/kinky curly hair care library. Support this sista b/c she is adding something so positive and utterly enlightening to our community. This will make a great Christmas gift as well.... ;)

Kurly Inspiration: Glamazini

If you aren't subscribed to her channel on Youtube and following her blog, Glamazini, you need to do both! Her hair is fabulous, her hair care tips are on point and she's very entertaining!

Below is her natural hair journey vid. I think she looks fabulous no matter what length her hair is. She's in the 4a/4b hair type/texture category and she too started out with a TWA. So enjoy.

Ladies, be inspired and stay encouraged! Our hair is so beautiful! I'm glad I have no other hair but my own and videos like this just reinforce my pride. Be proud!
